Since 2015, Rs 254.8 million disbursed for low-income housing

Since 2015, Government has disbursed Rs 254.8 million to encourage 4,183 families in the construction of their housing unit.

The National Housing Development Co Ltd (NHDC) offers a maximum grant of Rs. 75,000 to households with monthly total basic salary not exceeding Rs. 10,000 for the casting of roof slabs to complete their construction. Households with monthly total basic salary between Rs. 10,001 and Rs. 15,000 receive a maximum grant of Rs. 40,000.

 

Prices of vegetables to go up by next week

A 30 to 40% rise in the prices of vegetables is awaited in the market as from next week. The reason: vegetable plantations have been affected by the heavy showers that poured over Mauritius during the last  week. Moreover, there will also be a shorage of vegetables in the market. Planters say it should take several weeks before things will return to normal again.
