C’est sans doute un gros thème de la campagne pour le MMM. Car à ce jour, il est le seul parti à avoir aligné une femme pour ce scrutin. Il s’agit de Nita Juddoo. Mais sans doute qu’il pourrait avoir des femmes candidates après le Nomination Day.

Health Desks
Health desks have been set up in five Women Empowerment Centres for the provision of community resource information, counselling services and referrals to people who use drugs and to their relatives. The concerned centres are Abercrombie, Bambous, Flacq, Rose-Hill and Surinam.
Metro Express: India hands over cheque to Prime Minister
Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth has received a cheque to the tune of Rs 900 million (USD 27.5 million) from the High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Mr Abhay Thahur.
This cheque is another tranche of Government of India’s financial assistance under the agreed Special Economic Package of USD 353 million to Mauritius, towards the Metro Express Project.
The Metro Express Project will span over a distance of 26 km from Curepipe to Port Louis and comprise 19 stations, and 6 urban terminal including four interchangers. Eighteen air-conditioned trains will be operational with an accommodation capacity of 307 to 400 passengers with Wi-Fi-facilities. The ticket fare will be aligned with that of the bus fare. The target is to reach 53 800 passengers by 2021. The project is estimated to decrease traffic congestion which is costing the country Rs 4 billion annually.
Feasibility study and preliminary design and alignment of the Metro Express project have been carried out by the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise. The project will be partly funded by the Indian grant of Rs 9.9 billion and through a line of credit by the State Bank of Mauritius Infrastructure Development Company
Les centres communautaires se mobilisent contre la pauvreté
Les 21 centres communautaires des régions de la zone 4, allant de Moka à Grande Rivière Sud Est se mobilisent pour combattre la pauvreté. C’est dans ce contexte, qu’un atelier de travail a été organisé par la Sugar Industry Labour Wlefare Fund Community Developement Division de la Zone 4.
Ceci, afin de mieux sensibiliser les responsables des centres communautaires en ce qu’il s’agit des facilités qui sont offertes par les différents ministères.
12 Mauritian farmers go to India
Some 12 members of cooperative societies, who will attend a course on organic farming at the National Centre of Organic Farming (NCOF) in Ghaziabad, India, were handed over training materials and cheques under the Cooperative Development Fund Education Scheme.
The participants will have the opportunity to acquire the technical know-how and expertise during their 30-days stay at NCOF following which they will be provided with a certificate in organic farming. On their return, trained participants will have the opportunity to share their knowledge with other planters and they will also be encouraged to certify for the Mauritius General Agricultural Practices as well as aspire for an international accreditation which will support their development. They will leave at the end of this month.
Environ 7000 postes sont vacants dans la Fonction Publique
Environ 7 000 postes sont à pourvoir au sein de la Fonction publique. Ils ont été et seront libérés après des départs à la retraite. Des cours sont ainsi dispersés aux nouveaux venus pour qu’ils soient à la hauteur des attentes.
Le transport illégal inquiète les compagnies d’autobus
Le transport illégal demeure le souci principal des opérateurs d’autobus. Une étude de la Rose- Hill Transport Ltd (RHT) à Trèfles et Stanley a démontré que 4 500 personnes utilisent des transports illégaux quotidiennement. Celle de la CNT a indiqué que l’organisme subit un manque à gagner d’environ de Rs 6 millions mensuellement à cause du transport illégal.
Exchange Rate Support Scheme to be introduced
As regards the Export Oriented Enterprises, Government will introduce an Exchange Rate Support Scheme with the following features:
Ø A financial support calculated on the basis of the difference between the rate at which the export enterprise has exchanged its dollar proceeds and a reference rate of Rs 34.50 per US Dollar. The maximum support will be set at Rs 2.50 per US Dollar.
Ø The Scheme will be for a period of six months, based on the receipts for exports effected as from 11 September 2017. The payments will be made on a monthly basis as from 02 October 2017.
These measures were favourably received by the economic operators as they will help protect thousands of jobs in the country. They will also give a significant relief to small sugar planters and cooperatives as well as small and medium enterprises operating in the export sector.
Le PM à la rescousse du secteur privé
Le Premier ministre a rencontré des membres du secteur privé vendredi après-midi. Il a fait état de certaines mesures pour aider le secteur privé qui passe par des moments difficiles à cause de l’appréciation de la roupie. Il a aussi annoncé quelques mesures pour l’industrie cannière.
Les habitants de La butte et de Barkly suspendus à la Cour
Il se pourrait qu’il y a des développements dans l’affaire de démolition concernant des habitants de La Butte et de Barkly ce vendredi. La Juge Rita Teeluck devrait rendre son ruling. Mais selon Yousouf Mohamed, il pourrait que l’affaire pourrait être renvoyée à lundi.
