Le ministre des Finances avait déclaré que Shakeel Mohamed avait tenu un discours de relent communal. Protestation de Mohamed. Celui qualifie le Premier ministre de raciste. Il retire ses propos après. Reza Uteem soutient que le ministre des Finances n’a pas dit des choses correctes concernant l’affaire Medpoint. Il proteste.

Une médaille d’or pour les JIOI 2019 vaut Rs 50.000
Le ministère de la Jeunesse et des sports compte offrir une prime de Rs 50.000 à tout athlète mauricien qui remportera une médaille d’or aux prochains Jeux des iles de l’océan Indien (JIOI) prévus du 19 au 28 juillet 2019 à l’ile Maurice. Les médaillés d’argent et ceux de bronze recevront Rs 30.000 roupies et Rs 20.000 roupies respectivement pour chaque médaille remportée.
Quatorze disciplines que sont l’athlétisme, le badminton, le basket-ball, la boxe, le cyclisme, le football, l’haltérophilie, le judo, la natation, le tennis de table et le volley-ball, seront au programme de cette 10ème édition de ces Jeux qui ont lieu une fois tous les quatre ans, à tour de rôle, dans les iles de l’océan Indien.
International Conference on Energy, Environment and Climate Change
An International Conference on Energy, Environment and Climate Change would be organised by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Mauritius in collaboration with the Hamburg University in Mauritius, from 2 to 4 July 2019.
The aim of the Conference is to provide a platform for young scholars, senior researchers, eminent academics, policy makers and students from diverse scientific background to deliberate on recent developments in the field of environmental science and technology.
Some 60 participants comprising teaching staff and research staff of energy and environmental research centres and universities, project officers and consultants in enterprises and PhD students from various countries would attend the Conference.

Rs 25,000 la tonne de sucre. Voilà ce qu’a décidé le gouvernement. Mais cela ne fait pas l’unanimité parmi les planteurs. Si certains parlent de Jackpot, par contre d’autres trouvent que le gouvernement n’est pas sérieux. Ils auraient voulu obtenir Rs 2,500 par tonne de cannes. Des réunions de mobilisation se tiennent à travers l’île ces jours-ci.
Anemia effects 12 percent of women
It is a deficiency in folic acid and iron that affects mostly pregnant women. Young teenagers also have this deficiency in red blood cells. The government’s decision to encourage the production of wheat flour with folic acid and iron, announced in the budget on Monday, will help reduce the high number of cases of anemia.
BOM reserves on the rise
Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has said that thanks to the measures taken by the government, the Bank of Mauritius’ reserves have almost doubled from Rs 124 billion to Rs 241 billion. According to him, this is an unprecedented level in the country’s history.
He also clarified the management of public debt. Mr Jugnauth added that new measures would be taken to increase the reserves of the Bank of Mauritius. Reserve surpluses of the Bank of Mauritius are used to repay high-rate loans, he said.

Les débats budgétaires ont débuté jeudi. Et il semble que les membres du gouvernement ont la partie facile avec plusieurs bonnes mesures. Notamment avec la baisse des produits pétroliers et surtout le prix du gaz ménager. L’opposition parle de certaines promesses non tenues et aussi de la décision de la faire la Banque de Maurice éponger la dette.

Budget 2019-2020 to be presented on 10th June in National Assembly
Budget 2019-2020 will be presented by the Prime Minister, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, on 10th June 2019 in the National Assembly.
Prior to the preparation and presentation of the national budget, a series of pre-budget consultations were conducted by the Prime Minister amongst the various representatives of Trade Unions Confederations, the captains of the Business Community and different stakeholders of key economic sectors which include the Small and Medium Enterprises and other sectors; Agro-Industry sector; consumer associations, as well as the Non-Governmental Organisations.
Both the public and private sectors, the population at large, the business and trade Associations, Professional Bodies, Trade Unions, NGOs, Civil Society Organisations and other stakeholders were invited to contribute their ideas and suggestions in the context of the preparation of the forthcoming Budget in line with the ten development priority areas identified for the advancement and expansion of the economy in view of achieving a greater economic growth.
The areas consist of: expanding and modernising our infrastructure; dealing with the challenges facing the sugar and manufacturing sectors, including textiles; investing in new pillars of growth, in particular, AI technologies; encouraging a new culture of entrepreneurship; further opening up and integrating our economy with the rest of the world; investing in the education, training and other skills needed by our youth, so that they are better prepared for the future; addressing the impact of demographic change; promoting gender equality – “Think equal, build smart and innovate for change”; promoting a more inclusive and equitable society and further addressing the problem of poverty; and building greater resilience to the impact of climate change.
Following the various representations, Budget 2019-2020 will be geared towards further meeting the aspirations of the population, with a continuous strand on improving public service delivery and tackling new challenges while ensuring sound fiscal management by reducing the budget deficit and public sector debt.
