Le Plan d’assistance financière pour l’achat de filets de protection pour la saison 2021-2022 est effectif du 27 septembre 2021 jusqu’au 08 octobre 2021

Ce plan vise à encourager l’achat de filets pour protéger les fruits contre les attaques des oiseaux et des chauves-souris.

Les bénéficiaires potentiels auront droit à une subvention de 75% sur le coût des filets pour couvrir un maximum de 5 arbres fruitiers pour les arrière-cours et 60 pour les vergers, suivant le principe du premier venu premier servi.

Seules les demandes de ceux n’ayant pas pris avantage dudit plan d’assistance financière durant les deux dernières années seront considérées. Chaque bénéficiaire aura droit à une seule demande. Les filets devront être placés sur les arbres une fois que les fruits auront atteints un diamètre de plus de 5 mm.

53 die in road accidents

Statistics Mauritius has indicated that 53 people (+1.9%)died as a result of road accidents during the first semester of 2021 as compared to 52 during the corresponding period of 2020.

In its latest bulletin released this week, this governmental organisation said among the casualties, the most vulnerable category of road users w​ere riders/pillion riders of auto/motor cycles (28 or 52.8%), followed by pedestrians (11 or 20.8%).

Statistics Mauritius said that the population of Mauritius stood at 1,266,334, with a rise of 320 (+0.03%) over the population as at 1 July 2021.

This governmental institution said island-wise, the population was as follows: Island of Mauritius: 1,221,844; Island of Rodrigues :  44,216 and         Agalega and St Brandon: 274.
